The Butterfly Encounter
The Butterfly Encounter is an interactive, walk-through exhibit that also provides educational demonstrations. This unique experience allows visitors to “feed” and enjoy hundreds of butterflies, including six different species.
The Butterfly Encounter is FAMILY-owned and operated right here in spring hill, FL. Since our company opened in 2013, we’ve treated every customer like they were a part of our family.
Free Pinky Greens Kids Workshop
Pinky Greens, LLC is a small urban farm that grows tiny plants called microgreens—super young vegetables that are packed with flavor and nutrition. At Pinky Greens, we believe learning about food should be fun, colorful, and hands-on. Our goal is to help children become young gardeners, curious scientists, and healthy eaters while having fun with plants.
In this Pinky Greens workshops, kids can:
- Learn how seeds sprout and grow
- Discover the science of plants and nutrition
- Taste different microgreens
- Plant their own seeds to grow at home
Class space is limited. Preregistration is required. Classes are designed for kids ages 5-12 years old.

Meet Skip Richter, the host of GardenLine and get all your gardening questions answered!
Skip has trained hundreds of Master Gardeners across the state and made easy-to-understand guides on mulching and composting. He worked on programs like Don’t Bag It, Composting for Kids, and Grow Green to teach people how to keep runoff from harming our water sources.
Skip has cultivated gardens in the rugged brush country of south Texas, the acidic sands of the East Texas piney woods, the semi-arid conditions and high-pH soils of central Texas, as well as the hot, humid climate and rich black clays of southeast Texas. His expertise encompasses horticulture, garden education, garden writing, and a deep passion for horticultural photography.
Skip received his master’s degree in horticulture from Texas A&M University, “the source of all earthly knowledge”, and has served as a county horticulturist with Texas AgriLife Extension for 34 years in Montgomery, Travis, Harris, and Brazos County, advising home gardeners and the green industry on research-based horticultural practices. He has served as the National Gardening Association’s regional horticulturist for the southeastern U.S. and is a contributing editor to Texas Gardener magazine.

Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is dedicated to environmental preservation through public education and the conservation of birds of prey and wildlife in their natural habitat.
Named after the tallgrass prairie that once covered more than 23,500 square miles of Texas from the Red River to San Antonio, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is a rehabilitation and conservation education organization, specializing in fostering better public understanding of the relationship between birds of prey and healthy ecosystems.
