Kids will create a simple, natural bird feeder using pinecones, Crisco (a safe fat substitute for suet), and sunflower seeds—one of the best foods for Virginia’s native birds. A fun way to help wildlife and learn about local birds!
Birdsong Button Challenge: Who’s Singing?
Can you recognize a bird by its song? Kids will press a button to hear real recordings of Virginia bird songs, then try to match each sound to the correct bird using photos and name cards at the table. It’s a fun and interactive listening challenge for curious young naturalists!
