CELEBRITY GUESTS

Alison Victoria, Star of DIY Network's "Kitchen Crashers" and HGTV's "Windy City Flip"

Founder and President of Alison Victoria Interiors with offices in Chicago and Las Vegas, Alison Victoria is known for creating glamorous, modern interiors with a client list that includes high-end boutiques, resorts and private residences.  As a culmination of her design vision, Alison introduced the Alison Victoria Collection, a line of luxury furniture for the home. She went on to host Kitchen Crashers on HGTV and DIY Network, becoming the first female lead in the popular Crashers franchise. Her new show on HGTV, Windy City Flip, follows Alison in her role as developer and designer, renovating properties in her hometown of Chicago.

Boyce Thompson, Home Tech Guru

An author and public speaker, Boyce Thompson curates a Life-Changing Products exhibit that appeared at ten of the largest American home shows in 2017. To identify products that redefine life at home, Thompson monitors crowd-funding campaigns, attends industry trade shows, and scours magazines and websites. The exhibit includes groundbreaking products that just hit the market and along with prototypes that aren’t yet available for sale.

Previous exhibits have featured air conditioners that sense how many people are in the room; smart grid appliances that know the best time to run; inexpensive voice- and motion-activated home automation systems; and deadbolts that monitor who is at the door. The exhibit allows show-goers to use the products in an interactive fashion. Thompson also delivers seminars that explore trends that drive the do-it-yourself, remodeling, and new home markets.

Thompson is the founding editor of six magazines, including Residential Architect, Big Builder, Digital Home, and ProSales. For 17 years, he served as the editorial director of Builder magazine, which was named the best business publication in America in 2010 by the Association of Business Publication Editors.

Thompson’s first book, The New New Home, published in 2014 by The Taunton Press, was named book of the year by the National Association of Real Estate Editors. His second book, Anatomy of a Great Home, will be published by Schiffer Publishing in late 2017.

The exhibit generates significant media coverage. Thompson has appeared on morning television shows and in daily newspapers in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, San Jose, Grand Rapids, and Raleigh, among other markets. Exhibit coverage has appeared on websites run by The Associated Press, U.S. Today, MSN, and the Huffington Post.

In 2008, Thompson was given the Crain Award by American Business Media for lifetime achievement in business media. In 2010, he was inducted into the Editorial Hall of Fame by min magazine, a magazine for publication professionals. Thompson holds a BA in English from Northwestern University and a Masters degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
